What happened to MyLikes? A frustrated review.

mylikes review frustrated with scams and false advertisingI don’t know if I Like, MyLikes anymore.  This MyLikes review will let you know why I’m seriously disappointed with the service as of late.  Though I have made money with MyLikes and have found numerous quality products to promote (in the past) lately my feelings have changed.  Though MyLikes has received a lot of great reviews and has proven itself as a money maker for many using it to earn cash through twitter or facebook, I’ve become quite jaded with the MyLikes service and am  increasingly unimpressed with the quality of opportunities available on MyLikes.  Some of my greatest concerns lie with the fact that MyLikes is now directly giving members an opportunity to promote scams and false advertising!

MyLikes Review: Promoting Scams with MyLikes

Here’s a MyLikes opportunity that you can promote and earn from clicks, but beware you would be promoting a scam.  The “Make Money with Google Course” uses the good name of google to con people into believing they can earn money working from home by doing who knows what, but first you have to buy the course (don’t worry you can get it for only $15 instead of $97 like everyone else!).   I don’t really feel bad for people who fall for scams like this, who in their right mind pays an employer to employ them?  But anyway, it’s still NOT RIGHT that MyLikes is allowing an advertiser to use this service to promote and push scams.

make money with google scam mylikes reviewThe above scam has been debunked by Snopes, there are a lot of variations of the wording (including the Make Money with Yahoo version) but you can rest assured Google isn’t hiring and paying anyone to work from home.  (Find out the details from snopes research, here.)

Promoting False Advertising on MyLikes

Or if you like you can promote some ads that say one thing but actually redirect to something totally different.  There are a number of variations on the below opportunity, and the advertiser will gladly pay you $.15 per clicks from within the United States… while the suggested tweet says “This is SO COOL! Enter your name in this site and in seconds find out who has been searching for u on the net!” and the advertiser link is posted as whosearchingforyou.com, when clicked the site actually redirects to coupondealsdaily.com.  In addition can you explain to me how this title and picture have anything to do with anything!?!?

mylikes false advertising 2 scam MyLikes review

Promoting Plain Garbage on MyLikes

Besides scams and straight up false advertising there is now just a LOT of garbage opportunities on MyLikes that I would never take.  I’ve written about blogging integrity over at my friend Ileane’s blog, Basic Blog Tips, you can read that article here.  I want my twitter followers to trust and respect my tweets, to know that the things I’m promoting (whether I’m paid to or not) are worthy of their attention.   In the past I’ve mistakenly promoted ads that I wish I hadn’t (and now I always follow the URL and check what I’m tweeting about BEFORE I click publish).  If I’m going to promote something I want it to be quality and worthwhile, not like A LOT of the opportunities available on MyLikes these days.  Take a look at some of these offers you could tweet out and get paid for, “Can you tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese? Take this quiz!” are you serious?  Or promote ask.com with the wonderfully thought out tweet “Did you know what Barbie’s real name is?”. Perhaps if you’re a health nut you can promote Resveratrol… which has been claimed by some researchers to potentially be responsible for the positive effects that red wine has on cardiovascular health.  Personally I wouldn’t want my name and reputation attached to tweets for any of these silly and ridiculous things (though some of them may well be legitimate).  My online integrity is too important to try and make money by pushing useless, and unhelpful content on my followers and readers.

Where are you at with MyLikes?  Like it, Love it, Hate it?

It’s your turn.  MyLikes? I don’t know if I like MyLikes anymore…  Where are you at with the service.  Do you use it?  Have you noticed the quality of opps has changed?  Or perhaps you get excellent opportunities that fit with your niche and earn you a good chunk of cash?  Or maybe you don’t care and you’ll promote anything – if the fools click it that is their problem… Let’s hear your thoughts.  If you agree or disagree share your MyLikes review here in the comments.

I think I registered there way back (not even sure) but I know I am not promoting anything. I just don’t think I had the time.

But after this, I will think twice. If I start using it, I am sure gonna pay double attention to the stuff they offer.

The thing I hate the most is that EVERYTHING on internet gets full of spammers and scammers and ruins it for everyone else.

I also don’t like that any service allows stuff like that to be promoted. I understand they work for money, but if good people start leaving so will the bad.

Great review and I will have to think if I will start using them.

I agree with you, poor advertisers and lower quality lately. SponsoredTweets has higher quality advertisers (not in the CPC section but when they hire you directly).

Bloggers need to make sure reputation isn’t jeopardized, don’t promote crap just for a few extra bucks, it isn’t worth it.

    Hey Dan,

Although I haven been promoting MyLikes’ service a lot in the recent days, I have to agree that lately SCAM offers are getting more and more. I myself got actually fooled to post one such offer once. Didn’t made that mistake again, after getting some responses on the offer actually being a SCAM. So although money can be earned from MyLikes, one should always double check what he’s promoting.

    Hi Daniel,

I’m the founder of http://publishedin.com (in Beta) and we came with an innovative idea that allows online publishers, bloggers, and content owners to make money without ads at all.

We help Businesses (marketers) and Publishers connect and benefit each other. Our patent-pending technology makes it simple for businesses to increase quality traffic from online publishers, and publishers to earn cash rewards from their online content.

Publishedin Reward-Per-Click™ program allows businesses to reward publishers for referrals much the same as they pay Google (Pay-per-click) for referrals. Till today, Google as an aggregator of content is making billions from sending users to advertisers websites, while the content owners struggle to monetize their content. We provide a way for content creators to concentrate on good content (NO ADVERTISMENTS) and get rewarded for the value they create. And businesses to build a network of publishers, bloggers, and advocates that will help them win in the market.

    How does it work?

Publishers continue write and link to products and services as they normally do. When visitors click a link, Publishedin reports a referral to businesses. Businesses reward publishers through Publishedin Reward-Per-Click program.

Businesses get connected automatically to all publishers who have link to them. Businesses can start Reward-Per-Click program, promote their business, increase quality traffic and acquire new customers.

I’d appreciate your opinion on it.

Might be MyLikes is getting too low advertisers so they are forced to accept low quality ads to sustain.

Not sure what you’d like to know exactly? You basically are promoting advertisers content with the MyLikes network by claiming you like something and then tweeting it or posting it to facebook. You get paid when people click on those links. The content however is pitiful.

I have joined MyLikes last April with total payments $26 till last week. I’m using 4 twitter accounts to register into it, and post 3-6 ads per day in each account. I don’t understand about the ad’s contents are spam or not. I rely on bonus clicks that are available in the first click, cause I know, I don’t have many US followers. And FYI, today MyLikes suspend all of my accounts. Yeah.. but I will register the new ones, with carefull attention.

I did notice some of the ads that look like scams usually those high paying ones. One of them is what you mentioned, “Can you tell the difference between Chinese and Japanese? Take this quiz!”. In the quiz they show a picture of someone and ask what “nese” is he/she?

I would be more careful about choosing the ads in future though.

I started using MyLikes when it was Likaholix so my profile still includes those unpaid likes. At that time I wanted to use the site to help get my own brand known and when I had an issue connecting my facebook account to my likaholix account, Bindu was extremely quick and helpful to get it resolved.
I started using MyLikes again when I saw that they were paying for tweets. I’m picky about what I tweet about but I’d give it a shot since BeAMagPie was basically useless, not paying, tweeting spam, and doing nothing but pissing me off.
I did get paid as stated on a Friday once my account reached $2. I think I only made like $2.25 which was ok to start, but they did pay. I have noticed since I got paid that all of the $.10+ sponsors are non-existent. I counted, at the time of this post, I have 116 available sponsors, but only about 20 of them are decent enough to tweet and appear to be “good” sites to promote and not spam ones. I only post there about 3 times a week, so I’m not expecting to make millions, but a few $$$’s here and there are greatly appreciated.
I’ve been having great luck with other programs that I use from my smartphone, so since I’m not putting all of my eggs in one basket, I’ll keep checking in to MyLikes until something happens. I did download the Android app, and have used it twice now, but I find it easier to use the website.
And no, I don’t work for MyLikes, I’m just giving my honest experience.

As an advertiser, I have found the “publishers” so far to be pretty junky. Teenagers trying to make $.40 a click. We just launched today, and though the idea made sense, it certainly will not be useful to get clicks from people following teenagers who post only commercial links. Unless something changes in the next couple of days, we will be done with this.

  24. #39 by Judeh on July 23, 2011 - 7:05 am

I originally liked this website. They paid you a couple of bucks every few days for promoting websites and writing about why you like them. I put a lot of thought into everything I wrote and only promoted the websites that I liked. Only the websites that I felt were appropriate. Today I noticed that they suspended me without explanation. I tried to find a phone number, address, or email address so I could contact someone so they could give me some sort of explanation. Nothing came up. I notiiced on here that others were also suspended without explanation. I believe they owe me and the others a reason why this happened especially since we all have the common goal of earning a little extra money in a tough economy. I still believe that there are a lot of good money making websites out there because I belong to them but this proves that it’s good to be selective about who you sign up for.

Don’t bother with MyLikes. You get paid nothing and advertisers are horrible.

    Example –

MyLikes could set your social score to 600 meaning you can get paid up to 60 cents a click but most advertisers average somewhere between 1 and 15 cents.

Say you do end up finding an advertisers that will pay you 60 cents a click. Ok, great. You tweet the ad in a way that was recommended and you rack up the clicks. Awesome.

Except, MyLikes allows advertisers to disapprove any ad at any time. So while you may have racked up 30 clicks and $18.00 in earnings on Monday, by Wednesday it is disapproved and you are back to zero.

    Absolutely horrible service.

I be perfectly honest when I say this, but money is money (Im not saying it from my point of view, but rather from theirs). Advertisers pay them to put it up, mylikes isn’t the one that picks what goes up there. I have used mylikes and sponsored tweets to makes some extra money, but I agree with this post. They seem to be letting anyone advertise, and it is destroying the credibility of the people who share this stuff. I was making decent money on these sites, but not enough to piss off all my friends, but my buddy turned me on to sharemagnet.com a couple of weeks ago, and I haven’t looked back. I have actually found more cool startups and apps on that site that i have never even heard of before advertising on there. They pay almost immediately, and I actually use most of the products from the advertisers on there. Getting paid to share is only cool if the site respects my network and credibility first, so I will stick with share magnet… sorry mylikes.
