SPARQCODE – The Mobile Future is here.

sparqcode info carnivore fan pageThe mobile future is now!  SparqCode is absolutely amazing.  I had the privilege of trying it out the other day and was very impressed.  What is it you ask?

SparqCode gives you the freedom…

To click a picture (like the image at left) with your mobile device and be instantly connected to unlimited information on any topic.   A SPARQCode is essentially an advanced 2D barcode which can contain many types of content from websites, to phone numbers, addresses, and maps.  This is a new kind of interactive experience that can work on just about anything, and with limitless applications.

I can see the value this has for advertisers and marketers.  Restaurants, TV Shows (for instance a SPARQCode can remind viewers of a season premier or of specific show times.  Using a calendar specific SPARQCode, the TV show station and reminder alert can be added to any calendar capable mobile phone!)

Use the SparqCode generator maestro (qr code maker) to create your own codes which have the ability to do many things.  Create a code that dials a phone number, sends a text message, shows a map with destination, links to a URL, pass on a contact etc.  Give it a shot! First go to the qr generator (sparqcode.com) and install the app on your mobile device.  Then try it out!  Point and click at the image in this blog post, and see where you land up… (It will take you to the info carnivore fan page, where if you enjoyed this technology article, I hope you’ll press LIKE and become a fan!)

I was really impressed with how quickly the mobile app was able to capture the image and load the relevant information associated with the tag.  This certainly saves the time previously spent typing long URLs or texting shortcodes.

I’m certainly curious to find out if we begin to see codes like this more in our day to day activities.  I can imagine a million uses, and expect that we may begin to see qr code (smart barcodes) in all sorts of places, perhaps on movie posters, in television ads, certainly in magazines, books, etc.

What do you think of this kind of technology, what value do you see it having?  Do you think this could catch on?

Coca Cola takes facebook from virtual to reality seamlessly

coca cola village facebook likeTechnology, it’s an amazing thing.  But when you combine incredible technology with amazing creativity and the bold world of social media the possibilities are limitless.  With the boom of social networking over the past few years it is no surprise that the push is on to come up with creative ways of linking the social world online with the real world.  Coca Cola Village in Israel partnered with facebook to seamlessly allow the teens enjoying themselves at Coca Cola Village to share their experience online. The now famous facebook “like” button became a real life reality as vacationing teenagers were given RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) bracelets which were encoded with their facebook user name and password. When the wristband was ‘swiped’ over top of the real life thumbs up box their facebook status was instantly updated with what they were doing at the village. In addition if photographed by one of the official village photographers, the RFID bracelet would tag everyone in the photo and upload it to facebook automatically.

The video below tells the story. But what’s accomplished by this? Ultimately this is Coke partnering with a company called Promarket and Publicis E Dologic to utilize social networking successfully and to the utmost extreme.  The Coca Cola village holds 650 teens at one time, and in each cycle facebook was seeing about 35,000 posts!  That means every teen was posting Coca Cola branded content just under 54 times on their facebook profile, to be seen and liked by all their friends and family.

The CEO of Edologic, Enon Landenberg, is quoted as saying, “We are continuously looking for ways to connect the physical world with the virtual world. The idea behind “The Like machine” is an ultimate solution. It is an innovative and pioneering method, and through it the possibility to involve your Facebook friends in events and experiences that are happening to you around the world becomes a very true reality.”

What are your thoughts?  For me, it makes me wonder where this is headed next.  I can see this technology (which isn’t too complex at all) being integrated into a lot of other aspects of our daily lives.  Do you think that’s a good idea?  Or, perhaps like the few people I discussed this with, that idea sounds scary.  Share your thoughts!

Social Spark, get paid to blog

socialsparkThis is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hey blogger friends, I wanted to let you know of a new opportunity I’ve recently discovered on the web.  SocialSpark is an amazing Social Media Marketing site for bloggers and advertisers.  Essentially they do a fantastic job of connecting advertisers and bloggers together in a creative way to generate sponsored conversations and posts and to help you earn money for your blog.  If you’ve been looking for a way to generate a little more income online and you’re already having fun blogging than I would highly recommend getting connecting with SocialSpark.  I just signed up the other day and had to get the blog here at infocarnivore.com approved by their friendly Customer Love team.  I was impressed with the quick response and the approval within 24 hours.  I’m a part of other somewhat similar services but the opportunities that are available at Social Spark are huge, at a glance it looks like there is a whole lot more opportunity here than with other marketing/advertising networks I’ve been a part of.  Bloggers can earn money by writing sponsored posts, or through affiliate marketing where you get paid per sale.  I recommend you take some time to check out and become a member of Social Spark today!

Nike: “Write the Future”

This is the full length new Nike ad.   The time has come for players to carve their name in history. One touch, tackle or free kick could crush a nation’s hopes or cause them to build a statue in your honour. Drogba, Rooney and Ronaldo are ready to Write The Future.  I thought this has got to be the best commercial I’ve ever seen, creative, fast paced, and it makes a statement… way to go Nike!  Thanks to ericbryant.org where I discovered this post originally.  FIFA 2010 will take place in my mother’s home country of South Africa, a place I’m very fond of and would love to return to.
